Susie Byerley
Susie Byerley is an Indiana artist, born and raised in Orange County, whose love of art began in high school, where she spent much of her time in the art room developing her creative passion.
Instead of pursuing college, Susie married, started a family, and built a rewarding career as a veterinary technician. For nearly 30 years, she had the privilege of working with the animals she loves. But over time, the call to paint became impossible to ignore. Eventually, she answered that calling and began her second career as a professional artist.
Through workshops with nationally and internationally recognized artists, Susie dedicated herself to learning, practicing, and continually pushing her skills. Years of study and persistence helped her develop her own artistic voice—traditional, representational oil painting that reflects her deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around her.
Susie enjoys painting a wide range of subjects, from still lifes and plein air landscapes to portraiture, but she is particularly passionate about wildlife. Her love and understanding of animals bring a special connection to her work, capturing not only their physical beauty but also their character and spirit.
Today, Susie continues to learn, explore, and practice at her easel, grateful for every day she has the opportunity to create. For her, being an artist is not simply a career—it is a calling she is privileged to follow.
