Art should elicit an emotional response when viewed. Besides this response, I feel there should be a conversation between the artist and the viewer. Art should not tell the entire story so the viewer may participate with the art to make it their own.
It is also important to me to learn from other artists you have gone before me, therefore I often study the brushwork, pallet or subject of a master painter and use this in my current artwork.
I strive to capture the emotions that make art, beautiful and thought-provoking. I use strong values, brush, work and color to move the viewer through the painting. I strive to capture people in everyday settings, doing common activities in an artful manner.
