Joy Lait

Joy was born in Michigan and grew up in Indiana. After years in Colorado and California, she found herself back in the Midwest. She now lives in Louisville, Kentucky. Retirement has allowed her to devote full-time to her glass work.
Joy’s fascination/obsession with glass began in 2000 when she took up flameworking. After creating handcrafted glass beads and one-of-a-kind jewelry, Joy had a desire to go bigger. At that point, she began incorporating her glasswork with other materials. Joy’s work includes glass and wire sculptures ranging from small orbs to 6-foot-long pieces. She is also working with pate de verre (paste of glass). Her work incorporates both lampworking and pate de verre.
Joy’s work has won First Place awards and a Best in Show from the Oldham Arts Fall Show and has also won Best in Show at the For the Love of Art Show in South Bend, Indiana. She has been juried into the Kentucky Craft Marketing Program, the Louisville Artisans Guild, and the Kentucky Guild of Artists & Craftsmen.
