Midwest based artist Bekki Canine creates paintings that combine traditional oil painting with collaged bits of history. She finds vintage dresses, discarded books and forgotten photographs that still have stories to tell. She incorporates these papers, fabrics, or text into oil paintings to create surreal narrative images. In these paintings, Bekki employs animals as characters, but the subject is humanity and how we relate to the world and each other.
